Strategic Vision
Contribute to the refinement and execution of Youth Capital’s overall communications strategy.
Ensure that the team’s culture is informed by its values and share communication insights across the team.
Promote cross-learning and foster a growth mindset within the team.
Design & Manage Communications Strategy
Design and oversee Youth Capital’s communications strategy, ensuring all campaigns and activities are linked into a coherent national strategy
Work in partnership with the Multimedia Strategist to design and deliver impactful campaigns.
Conduct user research to understand audiences and design user journeys and calls to action.
Collaborate with the Advocacy Lead to align communications with advocacy goals.
Manage the portfolio of suppliers to ensure delivery of high-quality communication assets.
Lead the monitoring and evaluation of all communications activities.
Leverages media visibility opportunities to spread awareness and consideration of Youth Capital
Online Community Development
Strategise, manage, and grow Youth Capital’s online community.
Design and map end-to-end user journeys, integrating insights from offline community engagement.
Oversee the mailer strategy, including database management, POPI compliance, and campaign rollout.
Advise on digital performance and innovate to increase engagement.
Budget Management
Develop and manage the communications budget in line with Youth Capital’s strategy and priorities.
Track expenditure and prepare regular budget reports.
Strong background in communications, campaigns, or brand strategy, with at least 5 - 7 years’ experience.
Proven track record in designing and implementing digital and offline communications strategies.
Experience in digital community management
Strong experience in UX research, persona mapping, and designing user journeys.
Excellent writing and storytelling skills, able to turn complex ideas into accessible narratives.
Strong leadership skills, including managing small teams, budgets, and external suppliers.
Understanding of South Africa’s socio-economic context, particularly issues facing young people.
Strong analytical and monitoring skills to measure communications impact.
Strategic thinker with project management expertise.
Ability to balance creative storytelling with detail-oriented execution.
