The Innovative & Inclusive Society Portfolio seeks to create a society where innovation is equitably shared and systemic exclusion does not hinder the human development trajectory. The goal of the portfolio is to build the scaffolding for human and knowledge capital to thrive and create lines of flight out of the inequality trap by driving social innovation, technological innovation and policy and systems change. This portfolio is building a runway for the broader strategies of DGMT to thrive.

The portfolio works to achieve this through capacitating civil society and community leadership, tackling systemic chokes on human development, and ensuring synergy with the environment. In the portfolio, you will be leading a team of 16 people working on complex projects, including climate vulnerability in marginalised communities, land tenure and agriculture, alcohol harm reduction, gender-based violence, social welfare services and access to digital innovation & knowledge capital.

The Innovation Directors, together with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, the Chief Operating Officer, the Deputy CEO and the Director of Communications, form part of the executive management of the DG Murray Trust.  This team is responsible for the overall strategic and operational management of the DGMT.

• Shape and direct DGMT’s proactive strategy for the goal.
• Build and sustain alliances with other funders, government, civil society organisations and the corporate sector.
• Lead your team’s work to select and shape, support and manage projects.
• Inspire change through great communication.
• Work with the rest of the DGMT innovation team (staff and Trustees) to identify new opportunities and different ways of working for greater impact

• A post-graduate degree, preferably in a development-related field.

• A minimum of 5 years work experience

• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Ability to engage and manage a wide range of work.
• Excellent public speaking, facilitation and writing skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
• Self-motivated
