About the Role 

DG Murray Trust is recruiting a Collaborative Practice Coordinator (CPC)to support the work of the Lesedi Solar Park Trust in the Northern Cape communities of Postmasburg, Danielskuiland surrounding areas. 

The Lesedi Solar Park Trust supports long-term community development, with a focus on improving outcomes for children, young people, families and communities. DGMT supports the Trust through its Place-Based Synergies portfolio and Collaboratives Practice Team. 

The CPC will serve as the on-the-ground presence for the collaborative work. The role is responsible for building and maintaining relationships, supporting community-based coordination, strengthening collaboration between stakeholders, and ensuring that the Trust’s work remains informed by local realities. 

The CPC will help make collaboration work by connecting people, supporting shared priorities, tracking commitments, surfacing local intelligence, and strengthening coordination across community members, NGOs, schools, implementing partners, government and other stakeholders. 

Responsibilities

1. Stakeholder & Relationship Management 

  • Maintain a credible and accountable Trust presence in community, clearly communicating the Trust’s mandate, role and boundaries, while ensuring that community feedback, commitments, risks and opportunities are appropriately tracked, communicated and escalated. 

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships across Postmasburg, Danielskuil and surrounding areas, with a strong understanding of the local stakeholder ecosystem, community dynamics and emerging priorities, while supporting inclusive participation and connection between relevant actors. 

2. Building Capacity for Collective Action 

  • Convene and facilitate stakeholders in ways that are responsive to local context and readiness, helping people build shared understanding, agree priorities, clarify responsibilities and move from discussion into coordinated action. 

  • Support community and institutional actors to define shared outcomes, review progress, learn and adapt together, while strengthening mutual accountability, local leadership and increasing community ownership of collective action over time. 

3. Community-Informed Investment Stewardship 

  • Ensure Trust and PBS planning is informed by credible local intelligence, community priorities and implementation realities, and support implementing partners to understand the local context, connect with relevant actors and strengthen coordination without assuming formal grant or partner-management responsibility. 

  • Support eligible emergency and small-scale community-support requests fairly and consistently within Trust guidelines, maintainingappropriate documentation and communication, and surfacing recurring patterns that may point to wider developmental needs. 


Qualification

A bachelor’s degree or diploma in social sciences, community development, development studies, public management, education, social work, or a related field.  


Experience

  • Equivalent experience in community-based coordination or development work may also be considered.  

  • Experience working with communities, local organisations, schools, government stakeholders or implementing partners.  

  • Experience facilitating meetings, dialogues, forums or community engagements.  

  • Strong coordination and organisational experience.  

  • Experience documenting discussions, decisions, commitments and learning.  

  • Ability to work with basic data, local evidence and community insights to support shared decision-making.  

  • Familiarity with collective impact, systems change, asset-based community development, collaborative governance or place-based development would be an advantage.  

  • Familiarity with the Free State community context, especially Soutpan, Dealesville and Bloemfontein, would be an advantage.

Take Note

Required practical considerations 

  • Must be based in or near Postmasburg, Danielskuil or surrounding areas. 

  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle. 

  • Willingness to travel locally. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively across community and institutional settings. 

  • Proficiency in locally relevant languages would be an advantage.
